Projects
MiHIA has six formal initiatives, each led by a project steering team. The six projects are:
- Consumer Engagement – MiHIA is working to encourage patients to be intimately involved in their health care.
-
Healthy Communities – Earning this official designation benefits cities in a variety of ways.
-
Health Dashboard – This web-accessible reporting and monitoring solution reports on health status according to key performance indicators.
-
Health Information Exchange (HIE) – This tool will mobilize health information electronically – securely and confidentially enabling electronic transfer of clinical information between separate health care information systems.
-
Patient Centered Medical Home – This initiative fosters relationships between individual patients, their personal physicians and families. It promotes efficient use of resources and technology, which ultimately cuts expenses significantly.
-
Personal Health Record – Creating a personal health record for every child and employee in the region will improve people's health through the innovative use of information.
Triple Aim
In addition to our six formal initiatives, MiHIA has been selected as a participant in an important initative of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) – Achieving the Triple Aim in Geographic Regions. Participation in this initiative will help influence community health and contribute to the development of examples of successful change. The Triple Aim focuses on three key areas:
-
Population Health – Improving the overall health of the population in the region.
-
Patient Experience – Enhancing the patient experience of care, including quality, access and reliability.
-
Cost of Care -- Containing or reducing the per capita cost of care.
