The exchange of health data can improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare. Long-term success of the exchange requires that decisions be evidence based and clinically motivated. As imperatives drive the formation of health information exchange networks to equally serve the provider, payer and patient communities, the clinical group’s role is to put the patient and their families needs first.
Clinical Tasks: - Define criteria (such as reach, feasibility and medical impact) to prioritize key process flows (such as clinical care, public health, ePrescribing, etc.) to be implemented in the exchange
- Define real world examples that are appropriate for the Medical Trading Area served by MiHIA
- Identify and prioritize the key process flows (services) to be implemented in MiHIA
- Identify key barriers to adoption and recommend strategies for working with the identified community to clear those barriers
Major Milestones: - Clinical Opportunity & Priority Document
- List of Services Desired
- Inform and invite all physicians in the Central Medical Trading area
